Short-term operation scheduling

– international activities

SINTEF Energy Research modules for decision support has found its applications internationally. Besides the system delivered in the Nordic countries, SINTEF Energy Research is a sub-vendor to large international corporations.

SINTEF Energy Research is sub-vendor of a module for short-term operation scheduling , SHOP, to GE Harris in Florida, USA. GE Harris is a vendor of control systems and decision support modules within operation of electric power supply systems. The contract was signed in 1996. Systems are delivered in Korea, Czech Republic and in India.

SHOP is a tool with special emphasis on optimal use of the hydro resources. However the program also covers other systems models that makes it particular useful to co-ordinate different types of power production systems. The program finds detailed production schedules for user-defined time periods and time resolutions under different assumptions about reservoir inflow, market prices and loads. Dependencies within the water course, between time intervals and boundary conditions from longer-term scheduling are accounted for.
