Forecasting

SINTEF is involved in many different activities linked to forecasting and markets:

  • Forecasting of future electricity market prices
  • Forecasting of future energy production from hydroelectric plants, wind farms, gas-fired power stations, etc.
  • Forecasting of future electricity consumption
  • Forecasts of environmental emissions and discharges resulting from energy production
  • Forecasting of the financial results for producers, suppliers, etc.
  • The forecasting horizon applied can be anything from short-term forecasts for the next 24-hour period to long-term forecasts for the next 10-20 years. The method used depends of the nature on the forecasts and the forecasting horizon.
