Ambitious incubator plans for Serbia
The Norwegian-financed “incubator for industrial companies” in Serbia-Montenegro has pilot centre status. It is the first test centre for what may become a national network of incubators.

Under contract to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, SINTEF is helping the Serbian authorities to draw up a “template” for such a network.

The aim is to draw development aid authorities in other countries into a large-scale incubator programme in Serbia-Montenegro.

“So far, SINTEF has been collaborating closely with other participants from Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands in the development of a programme of this sort”, says project manager Morten Muus Falck of SINTEF Technology and Society.

A look at Moldova
On Monday October 17, Muus Falck and three of his SINTEF colleagues travelled to Moldava on contract to the United Nations, and with the blessing of Norway’s Foreign Ministry. In Moldova they will look at the possibilities of establishing a similar network of incubators in this former Soviet republic.

Macedonia too
SINTEF already has a branch office specialising in industrial development in the Macedonian capital of Skopje, where SINTEF
is involved in a number of small projects, one of which concerns the establishment of an incubator for new industry.
