Our Research

A brief overview of our specific competences follows:

  • Quantitative constitutive material models for different materials (aluminium alloys, polymers)
  • Numerical algorithms for integrating these material models resulting in FORTRAN-codes – user material subroutines – that can be compiled with different non-linear finite element codes
  • FE-based crystal plasticity for metallic materials
  • Parameter identification and visualisation programs for anisotropic yield criteria, strain hardening and strain rate hardening models, and dynamic strain hardening models
  • Test matrix for complete characterisation of elasto-plasticity and fracture, based on in-house research.
  • Partly parameterised element models of generic test set-ups
  • Experimental and modelling protocols for all existing test methods together with extensive databases (ongoing work)
  • Procedures for characterisation of surface roughness and evaluation of the influence on fatigue life
  • Procedures for generating element models from 2D and 3D measurements
