Our Research strategy and expertise
“Good experiments give one point, good modelling gives another. Integrated development of test methods and modelling – together with pertinent validation – gives 10 points”.
Our strategy is to develop experimental techniques and material models using an integrated process.
Our core expertise is developing constitutive models, which often include damage and fracture criteria. An integrated part of this work is to develop experimental facilities for mechanical testing and parameter identification routines for the models. We also work on implementing constitutive models in the non-linear FE codes ABAQUS and LS-DYNA, thus closing the loop.
We have extensive experience in modelling and numerical simulations of extruded, rolled, and cast aluminium, cast magnesium, high-strength steel, concrete, aluminium foams, adhesives, and thermoplastics. We provide research and solutions at an international level due to our high level of competence and market experience in applications in alloy development for “advanced applications”, “integrated process- and product development”, and various lifetime, impact, crash, and penetration analyses.
