X60 is a new, high-speed suburban train being manufactured by Alstom LHB Gmbh in Salzgitter, Germany. A total of 55 X60 trains have been ordered by the Stockholm transport authority Storstockholms Lokaltrafik AB to be put into passenger service in autumn 2005. 

In connection with this order, SINTEF has been engaged by Alstom LHB as independent safety assessor for the bogies, wheel sets/axles, brakes and doors subsystems. This engagement implies controlling that the acceptance criteria for the certified products are compatible with the requirements for the intended application. In order to do this, SINTEF is doing assessment of both general and subsystem-specific documentation:

• General: Quality and safety management plans and procedures 
• Subsystem specific: Specifications, Quality records, Safety records, Hazard and  risk analyses, Hazard log, V&V reports, FAT and SAT reports,  Safety Cases
