Logistics for LIFE brings together leading logistic companies, technology providers and research organizations working on innovative ICT solutions. The main aim is to ensure long-term sustainability of the logistic industry by increasing its operational efficiency. This general goal derives from a shared vision of the logistic sector development, based on the following considerations:

• Logistics is crucial to environmental sustainability
• Road freight traffic is not decreasing on the short-term
• Logistic operations have room for significant efficiency gains 
• Logistics is a low-margin, highly competitive sector
• Freight transport has heavy societal implications 

Logistics for LIFE presents a Knowledge Base with extensive knowledge and experience from several European and national projects and solutions. The solutions are also presented in the Solutions Showcase which is a market oriented view on the accepted solutions. The Knowledge Base is available online on http://www.logistics-knowledgebase.com/.

The project is also supporting the European Commission in targeting the need for future research and development. This is done by means of the Logistics for LIFE road map.
