EXTRA is a European research project carried out from 2008-2010 within the EU collective research program Cornet. The project has focused on knowledge management and learning in companies who develop and deliver software products, especially small and medium-size companies. Research shows that there is a large potential to improve efficiency and effectiveness of software development by improving knowledge management.

ICT Norway was the project coordinator and has been responsible for project management in EXTRA. SINTEF was the research partner in Norway. The project was done in cooperation between ICT business associations, research institutions and companies in Norway, Belgium and Cyprus. Norwegian companies in the project were AKVA group, Maritech AS, Data Design System ASA, Lydia AS, Vianova Systems AS og Visma Unique AS. The Norwegian part of the project was partially funded by Innovation Norway.
