Marine bio-prospecting is the search for valuable, biological active compounds from organisms in the sea. Together with national and international partners we screen marine algae and bacteria for properties with potentials for exploitation in aquaculture, food stuffs, chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Our work has disclosed antibacterial compounds in seaweeds and immunostimulatory compounds in microalgae. We also screen for probiotic bacteria for use in microbial control in marine juvenile production.
