Ocean wave spectra
Spectral model for combined ocean waves

The first double-peaked ocean wave spectral model was published at the OMAE conference in 1993. The model was simplified and calibrated and a revised model published at the ISOPE conference i 2004.

The model is primarely based on 20 000 measured one-dimentional spectra for the Statfjord field in the North Sea. Average spectra for intervals of wave height (HM0) and spectral peak period (Tp) are described by a double peaked model, where each peak (wind sea and swell) is modelled by a JONSWAP spectral form. The distribution of energy between wind sea and swell is given by the sea state (HM0,TP)
