Fire safety in universal designed buildings
The objective of this project is to produce an overview of how the fire safety is being ensured in universal designed buildings, both nationally and internationally.

An universal designed building is a construction where the building, the products and the outdoor area are designed for all-round use for all kind of people, without any adjustments. Accessibility to homes and public buildings have high priority.

Universal designed buildings creates innovative thinking in the engineering phase as regards fire safety. Until now the design has emphasized on how to enter the building, not so much on how to evacuate in case of fire.

The project is devided into two parts. Part one is funded by the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) and is planned to be finalised this year. Part two will be completed in 2007.
