Research, technology and innovation
Intelligent clothing for extreme weather
Norwegian laboratories are developing technical clothing that can "sense" how your body is responding. This will make working under extreme weather conditions safer.
How to be lightning smart
During thunderstorms, when Thor the God of Thunder starts wielding his hammer, researchers know exactly what you should and shouldn't do if you want to keep safe.
Finding a good home for dementia sufferers
Norway is evaluating innovative housing options for dementia sufferers. Perhaps small serviced housing projects and dementia 'villages' will provide a more normal life than nursing homes and institutions?
SINTEF is looking for the next generation of problem solvers. If you want to be involved in creating solutions for the next generation, SINTEF needs you. For more than 60 years our research has developed solutions and innovations both for society and our clients all over the world. As a result, SINTEF has become a world-leading research institute. SINTEF offers world-leading laboratories within a broad spectre of technology areas. Our advanced laboratories range from development of microelectronics and studies at a nano-level, to one of the world's largest ocean basin laboratories.
Multiphase Flow Laboratory
The laboratory's main activity is flow assurance related research for the petroleum industry. It has contributed significantly to the development of multiphase flow simulators, and this is still an ongoing activity. Development of hydrate cold flow technology and sand transport studies are currently also main topics.
SINTEF MiNaLab performs R&D within microsystems and nanotechnology. The focus is on silicon sensor research, prototyping and small-scale production.
The Ocean Basin Laboratory is used for basic as well as applied research on marine structures and operations. A total environmental simulation including wind, waves and current offers a unique possibility for testing of models in realistic conditions. With a depth of 10 metres and a water surface of 50x80m the Ocean Basin Laboratory is an excellent tool for investigation or existing of future challenges within marine technology.
