Science Week, October 18-21, 2010  Organized in Washington DC by the Norwegian Embassy, the purpose of the Science Week is to foster R&D cooperation across the Atlantic. The program includes topics ranging from policy, academia, R&D and industry. This is the 9th science week. See program.

 As a ‘side-event’, the Research Council, together with BIGCCS and SUCCSESS, will organize a workshop on joint possibilities for CCS R&D collaboration. Participation is based on invitation, and the expectation is to have around 20 attendants from Norway and North America. Program can soon be found at the link above.

CLIMIT Days, October 12-13, 2010
As a cooperation between Gassnova and the Research Council the CLIMIT Days are organized in Oslo. BIGCCS contributes with a presentation. Program can be found here.

COMBI2010, October 7-10, 2010
BIGCCS will be represented at the conference Combi2010: “Contemporary Views on Business: Partnering for the Future”. The conference is a forum for knowledge co-creation and intellectual exchange emphasizing partnering and international knowledge transfer as sources of competitive edge. BIGCCS is moderating a special session titled “Innovation in transdisciplinary and heterogeneous collaborations: Exploring new way of organizing environment-friendly energy research”. NEREC Preconference, September 27, 2010
In connection with the North European Renewable Energy Convention on Sept. 28-29, the Research Council and NEREC organized a preconference on Sept. 27 at Gamle Logen in Oslo. The conference focused on results and value creation in the FMEs so far. In summing up the Conference, Director Fridtjof Unander, of the Research Council, said that he was impressed with the speed at which the FMEs had been established, and that results and production from the FMEs so far exceeds the expectations from the Research Council.

GHGT-10, September 19-23, 2010
This year’s International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Technologies (GHGT-10) took place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. More than 1600 delegates from 55 countries attended. BIGCCS was represented with three oral presentations and seven posters. BIGCCS also contributed to the joint SINTEF/NTNU booth at the exhibition. CEER Contact Meeting, September 1, 2010
The Research Council has organized a contact meeting with all the CEERs (FMEs) at its premises in Oslo. Issues discussed at this meeting were: innovation and commercialization, internationalization, infrastructure, and experiences from the first year of operation. The Research Council stressed that all centers are expected to pay specific attention to innovation and commercialization in their activities. The plan is to have two such meetings annually. ONS 2010, August 24-27, 2010
BIGCCS was represented at ONS 2010 in Stavanger. This year’s event set a new record with close to 50.000 visitors. With our separate booth we attracted many interested visitors. ONS homepage.

IEA GHG Summer School, August 22-27, 2010
This year’s Summer School was hosted by the Gas Technology Centre NTNU-SINTEF, and held in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. 56 students from all around the world were selected from over 300 applicants. BIGCCS was represented through organization of the event and with lecturers. More about the IEA Summer School.

EXPO2010, 21-22 May, 2010
In connection with EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, China, a joint Sino-Norwegian seminar was staged by the Norwegian Research Council. The seminar intended to strengthen the ties between China and Norway in R&D and education, and cooperation projects are already under planning. BIGCCS participated with several presentations. BIGCCS: Kick-off Seminar, 22-23 June, 2009
Seminar with over 70 participants, the seminar was officially opened by Norway’s Prime Minister, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg.
