Our expertise
All scientists in the Structural Mechanics team have a broad educational background in static and continuum mechanics in the field of mechanics of materials, with specific knowledge on design of steel, aluminium, wood and concrete structures under various types of loading and limiting states such as elasticity, plasticity, fatigue, fracture. We have a specific focus on the use of accurate, advanced and robust material models and fracture criteria.
We also have in-depth knowledge of modern tools for analysis of problems such as linear and non-linear finite element methods together with the accompanying pre- and post-processing tools required for these analyses. Most of the team have a PhD degree in this field and with the tools mentioned above they have a high level of expertise as users and developers of these numerical tools.
We put strong emphasis on experimental methods for calibration and validation of the models used. In this respect, we use and develop advanced experimental techniques for observing and extracting relevant and pertinent data from our tests.
The group has an excellent professional network within academic and industry which we readily share and extend. We have also proven expertise in writing applications and in project management which provides us with robustness and reliability.
