History of SINTEF ICT
SINTEF ICT was established as a research division in the SINTEF Group in January 2004.
The former institutes, SINTEF Applied Mathematics, SINTEF Electronics and Cybernetics and SINTEF Telecom and Informatics were merged to form the new division.
SINTEF ICT has highly skilled personell with traditions back to the 50's in both Oslo and Trondheim. Activity in Oslo was associated with the former Centre for Industrial Research which merged with SINTEF in 1993. I Trondheim ELAB (later ELAB-RUNIT and DELAB), SINTEF Automatic Control and SINTEF Industrial Mathematics were the more important areas. These areas in Oslo and Trondheim were the basis for the three institutes, SINTEF Applied Mathematics, SINTEF Electronics and Cybernetics and SINTEF Telecom and Informatics when these were established in 1995
